Excerpt:

CHAPTER ONE

I’m not sure why everyone dreads their thirties.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s going to be

the best decade ever ~ Robbie

Six Months Later…

“LOVERS, I’M HOME,” Robbie Bianchi called out to his boyfriends, as he juggled several shopping bags in one hand and kicked the front door shut behind him. He stuffed his car keys into the pocket of his shorts, and as he evened out what he was carrying, he took the stairs that led him up to the first floor of their new home.

With the same smile on his face that he’d left with that morning, Robbie headed across the hardwood floors past the dining room, and into the kitchen, where he spotted a note waiting for him: We’re upstairs, princesse. Come find us when you get home.

Robbie grinned at the messy crown drawn above the i in princesse, but then quickly did as he was told. With one hand on the steel rail, he took the stairs two at a time, and as he reached the second floor where the bedroom was located, he walked inside to find it empty except for the fish swimming around the tank that lined the wall facing their bed.

Dropping his shopping bags on the end of the mattress, Robbie headed up to the final floor, where he knew his men were waiting for him. He opened up the glass door that led to the penthouse deck, and when he stepped outside and the warm rays washed over him, Robbie took in a breath of fresh air.

Ah, he’d always loved summer. Everything about it. The sun, the smell of the freshly cut grass, and the clothes—or lack thereof—Robbie thought, as he reached for the edge of his white tank top and drew it over his head.

As he tucked it into the back of his shorts, Robbie scanned the wide deck, his eyes roaming over the wooden slat floor, the hot tub over in the corner, and the glistening water of the lap pool surrounded by the potted greenery bordering their rooftop oasis.

This space had been the final selling point with all three of them when they’d made the decision to leave the condo after what had happened there with Jimmy. It was the perfect place for Julien to relax and do his yoga, for Priest, who loved a good soak to clear his mind, and for Robbie, for whom it was all about the calm he got from finally seeing his men happy and at peace. And that was exactly how he found one of them right now. There, stretched out on one of the sun loungers, was the brand-new reason that Robbie loved summer—an almost-naked Julien Thornton.

Dressed in tight, black, barely there swim shorts that left little—okay, nothing—to the imagination, the only other thing Julien was wearing was a pair of Aviator sunglasses. His rich, olive-colored skin was glistening with water droplets as he lay sprawled out with his hands behind his head, and oh my God was he a feast for the eyes.

As Robbie walked to the end of the lounger, his eyes roamed up Julien’s toned legs to his muscular thighs, and ended at the bulge that tight material was cupping like a glove.

Oh yes, this was hands down the best part about summer now, and luckily for Robbie and Priest, tanning was a favorite pastime of their seriously sexy Frenchman.

Bonjour, princesse.” Julien’s honey-toned voice wrapped around Robbie, informing him that he’d been caught staring. But he didn’t care—not one little bit.

“One second, please. I’m concentrating here,”Robbie said, his gaze trailing up all he could see to finally land on Julien’s face. “Now, sorry, what were you saying?”

Julien chuckled as Robbie walked alongside him. “Bonjour, princesse.”

“Oh, yes,” Robbie said, and bent down to brush a kiss across Julien’s lips. “Bonjour, Jules.”

Robbie went to straighten, but before he got too far away, Julien took hold of the back of his neck and craned up for a deeper kiss. Robbie’s lips parted, and Julien slipped his tongue inside, making Robbie’s cock jerk to attention, as he braced his hand on the back of the lounger and sank into the deliciousness that was all Julien.

Jude

Every rock band needs their bad boy. Hookers, drugs, DUIs— been there, done that. I’m in a Downward Spiral and proud of it (see what I did there?). When the band manager, Archer, hires Bennett to keep me from screwing up while the band is on hiatus, I may have finally met someone who won’t take my attitude lying down. With the three of us cooped up together for weeks on end, I have a feeling things might get interesting.

Archer

Downward Spiral is my baby. Not only am I the band manager, I discovered them ten years ago when they were nothing but a bunch of high school kids playing in a hole in the wall bar on the weekends. But it’s obvious I haven’t done a great job because they’re falling apart. If the lead singer isn’t trying to kill himself, it’s the bass player telling me he can’t write any new songs. And no one gets under my skin more than Jude, who seems determined to snort and drink himself into an early grave. There’s only one man I can think of who might be able to get Jude back on the right track, Bennett Schmitt. Unfortunately, he’s also the man I let get away sixteen years ago and haven’t gotten over since.

Bennett

If there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s take control of a situation. In fact, control is kind of my thing. Which is probably why I’m the best in the business when it comes to getting out of control celebrities back on track. When my ex calls and tells me he’s desperate for my help, I can’t turn him down. Between the infuriatingly sexy drummer with no idea what kind of trouble he’s asking for, and my ex looking better than ever, there’s no way this isn’t about to get messy.

* This is an MMM romance with D/s play and mild daddy kink (NO age play)

EXCERPT

“I didn’t realize I signed up for fucking boot camp,” I grumble, considering throwing my pillow at his head to get him to leave.

“I’ve helped a lot of people, celebrities included, recover from drug addiction and turn their lives around. The cornerstone of my treatment plan is sticking to a schedule.”

“A schedule?” I ask, allowing a mocking tone to drip from my voice. “Quick question for you sir.” It’s impossible to miss the way Bennett’s eyes flare, and I wonder what it means. “Is there any room in the schedule for jerking off, because I usually tug one out when I wake up and I prefer to take my time.” I kick my covers down, palming my hard cock through my boxers, holding Bennett’s gaze as I rub myself.

His eyes darken, reminding me of the sky right before a storm. A little thrill of fear goes through me, making my erection jump in my hand.

“How about I tell you when you’re allowed to jerk off? Does that work for you?” His voice is even lower and rougher than it was before, and again, my cock jerks with excitement. I bristle at the suggestion, even as part of me shouts yes.

“How about if you go fuck yourself?” I snap back.

Without warning, Bennett’s large hand wraps around my ankle, yanking me down to the edge of the bed and startling a yelp of surprise from me. He leans down, into my personal space, until our faces are only inches apart. I fight to keep my expression a mask of bored defiance.

“You’re used to getting your way, which is why you’re such a petulant little brat,” Bennett observes in a conversational tone. “But I’m going to tell you a little secret. I don’t give a flying fuck what you want right now. You’re going to get your skinny ass out of bed and put some goddamn clothes on like I told you to.”

Broadway star Skye’s whole life is an act.

On the surface, he’s living the New York Dream – acclaimed by critics for his stunning debut, playing to packed audiences every night.

They don’t know the truth.

Battling crippling anxiety, every show is a struggle for Skye. Only one thing gives him the courage to step into the spotlight every performance – the steady, calming support of costumer Russell. But Skye can’t burden Russell with all his demons…

When wealthy patron Brent takes an interest in Skye, everything the actor knows is turned upside down. Charismatic and confident, Brent is everything Skye isn’t… and just what he needs. But how can he choose between gentle Russell and magnetic Brent? Russell means so much to him, but the chemistry between Skye and Brent is undeniable.

Or does he have to choose at all…?

Excerpt

Quick changes, Skye decided as he scrambled offstage yet again, were the worst part of any show. It was the start of full-dress rehearsal week for the Broadway debut show Child’s Play, so he was figuring out how to get into and out of his costumes–and in time to scale the ladder to the height of center stage so he could descend from the ceiling. He’d botched it twice already, not making it in time for his cue, and he was a mess of nerves trying to get decked out in his light-up tuxedo while he paid attention to the music.

“Hey,” his quick-changer murmured as he affixed Skye’s mask. “You’ve got this.”

Right. Skye nodded and hurried over to the ladder.

After rehearsal was over and the cast was undressing and taking off makeup, Skye decided to track down the quick-changer. His calm amidst the storm had really helped, and Skye wanted to say thanks.

It had been chaotic and dark, but Skye didn’t have a problem remembering what he looked like. Taller than Skye, with dark brown skin and kind eyes.

He found him fixing costume pieces on their hangers, and seeing him in full light–he looked more like someone who should be modeling clothes, over making them. “Hi,” Skye said, trying to sound more confident and less shy. “Uh, I’m Skye. I don’t think we’ve been introduced?”

The quick-changer chuckled, a low, throaty sound, and held out a hand. “Russell,” he said. “And I know who you are. Hard to miss the Power Prince.”

Right. Skye was still in full makeup. He, at least, was easy to recognize. He ruefully rubbed the back of his neck. Skye tried his best to get to know the stage crew, but between them and the cast there were a lot of people to keep track of. Once the show was up and running for a few weeks he’d definitely be better at it, but people sort of stayed in their little boxes during rehearsals. They didn’t meld properly into one complete unit the show actually started. But Russell he wasn’t going to forget. “I just wanted to say thanks.”

“What for?”

“For, you know, encouraging me back there. I really needed it. And it helped a lot.”

Russell smiled at him. “Happy to help.”

“Yeah, uh–” It didn’t feel like enough, just saying thanks. And he didn’t know the guy yet–but it’d be a good idea to get to know him. Especially considering he’d be the one helping Skye strip down and then dress back up twice a show. “Are you busy, now that rehearsal is done for the day?”

Russell shook his head. “Just need to finish prepping this all for tomorrow. Shouldn’t take me long. Why?”

“You want to grab a bite to eat together?”

“Sure.”

“Want to meet by the back door when you’re ready? I have to take all this off anyway.”

Russell chuckled again. “I might be done before you are, but sure, yeah. Meet you then.”

Skye grinned. “Great.”

He left to go peel off his costume, unpin his wig, and take off all the stage makeup. In the end, he just wiped off as much as he could manage. He was pretty sure all Broadway actors had perpetually lined eyes at this point. Well, it wasn’t like he minded that much–it did make his eyes pop.

When he was dressed in real-people clothes again, he grabbed up his bag and left for the backstage door. A few people were still milling around, but Russell was standing a little off to one side. Not checking his phone or anything, just watching what was going on around him.

Skye went up to him. “Hey,” he said. “Thanks for waiting. Looks like you were right; you were done before I was.”

Russell blinked at him and then laughed. “So that’s what you look like when you’re out of makeup. I’ve been wondering.”

“You have?”

Russell shrugged. “I mean, I’ve seen everyone’s playbill headshots, but by the time I get to most of you, you’re all in makeup, if not costumed.”

“I thought you were one of the costumers.”

“Yeah, but that mostly means I’m sewing or repairing or washing. I just get put on the quick-changes once we get into dress shows. I’ve got fast fingers.”

Skye laughed. “Okay, good to know. And, I mean, I appreciated them. You’re going to be the one working with me?” Hopefully he didn’t sound to eager.

“Yup. For the changes on that side of the stage that need an extra pair of hands, I’m your guy.”

Skye smiled. “Nice to hear.”

“So where we headed?”

“Oh, uh,” Skye might not’ve thought that far. “What are you in the mood for?”

“You pick. You were the one who did the inviting, after all.” Russell grinned at him.

Skye tried not to panic. He wasn’t so great at choosing things. “Um.” There was that burger joint a block away that he and the others frequented a lot, that might be a good place. But maybe that was too fast-foody? There was a sushi bar pretty close by too, but Russell might not like that. Maybe–

“Actually,” Russell said after what was probably too long a pause on Skye’s part, “I could really do with a burger. That sound good to you?”

Crisis averted. Second time that day Russell had done that. “Yeah.” Skye smiled. “That sounds great.

BLURB

Oliver Knight’s past is shrouded by sorrow and tragedy, but instead of hiding from it, Ollie owns his truth and uses his experiences to uplift others. As an out and proud pastor, he provides a safe place for LGBTQ Christians to gather and worship, and as a recovering addict, he counsels those pursuing sobriety. Ollie’s life is fulfilling but also a little lonely. He may not have a hard time meeting men, but he does have a hard time getting them to stick around once they discover his vocation.

Archie White is a former drag queen who hung up his stilettos to start an HIV transition home in the memory of someone he held near and dear to his heart. All work and no play has made Archie a very dull man, but he thinks his luck is about to change when a friend introduces him to a dark-eyed stranger. That is until he learns the man is a pastor. Archie detests anything to do with religion, and for very good reasons.

Archie’s gut tells him to run, and Ollie’s heart tells him to pursue. What can a pastor and a sometimes-queen possibly have in common? A desire to find unconditional love with someone who truly sees them. What happens next is the poignant, sweet, and sexy journey for two resilient hearts. Ollie and Archie’s halos might be battered and a little tarnished, but they’re definitely not broken.

Broken Halos is a charming story with heart, heat, and humor. Warning: these characters and their quirky sidekicks may take up permanent residence in your heart, so proceed with caution. Each book in the Queen City Rogues series can be read as part of the series or as a standalone novel. This book contains sexually explicit material and colorful language intended for adults 18 and older.

EXCERPT

“Ollie, I didn’t expect to see you here,” Archie said in a neutral tone.

I just stared at him, unable to think or even blink, because he was the most beautiful being I’d ever seen. Whatever he’d done with his makeup made his eyes look bigger, greener, and shinier. I’d never seen eyelashes that long on another person. And his lips…The gloss made them look plumper, and I was dying to know if the shiny substance had a taste. If so, what would the pink gloss taste like? Strawberry? Melon? Cotton candy? How would those luscious lips feel working up and down my cock?

“Um,” I finally managed to say in an embarrassing squeak. The lips I couldn’t stop staring at spread into a slow smile which finally made me look into Archie’s eyes again. I wanted to see if they looked as inviting as his lips. His green gaze expressed the hesitance I was accustomed to seeing from him, but I also saw joy. I didn’t know how someone could look both unhappy and happy at the same time, but he somehow pulled it off. Archie raised one perfectly shaped brow and waited for me to say something else. What did he want? An apology? “Are you unhappy to see me?”

“Of course not. What we have here is a failure to communicate.” My left eyebrow lifted at the Cool Hand Luke reference. Apparently, Archie quoted movie lines when he was angry or nervous. I thought it was adorable. “I thought our parting kiss indicated we were in a good place. I thought you said you’d see me soon. Oh, wow,” he said then briefly covered his mouth to hide a smirk. “That sounded really needy and desperate.”

To me, it was music to my ears. He apparently had missed me a little to react in such a way. “You sound like you’re still trying to figure out what this thing is between us,” I said.

“And you’re not?” Archie countered.

I shook my head. “I know exactly what I want.”

A delicious shiver worked its way through Archie’s body. “You have a funny way of showing it.”

“I’m here now, and it’s only been a few days.”

“Us being in the same room is a coincidence, unless you and my mom are working together as a team.” I looked over his shoulder and saw his mom smiling broadly as she waved at me.

“I’m not a big believer in coincidence.”

“You think us being here on the same night is fate?”

Lucky Town Teaser 1

EXCERPT

The November evening was perfect for walking, so they left Simon’s car and Vic’s Hayabusa motorcycle at the bungalow and walked to dinner. Beach Shack Pizza, their favorite place, offered a view of the surf without the wind that could get chilly this time of year. Simon and Vic settled into their booth and ordered a large pizza, half Hawaiian for Simon, and half Meat Lovers for Vic.

“You’re still freaking out about Pittsburgh.” Vic didn’t even make it a question.

“I’m meeting your family,” Simon said, fidgeting with his napkin. “What if they don’t like me?”

Vic bumped his knee under the table. “You’ve asked me that before, and I say the same thing, every time. They’ll love you. My brothers are assholes, but only to each other. I’ve been out to them forever, so it’s not a surprise. They’ll just be glad I’ve found someone. They never liked Nate.”

When a hostage situation Vic got pulled into in Pittsburgh several years ago ended up having a demonic twist, he nearly lost his badge. No one believed that there had been a supernatural angle to what went down, not even Vic’s then-boyfriend, Nate. Vic knew he needed to move away to get another job, far from the whispers and rumor mill. Nate refused to consider leaving the city. A friend’s connections landed Vic the job in Myrtle Beach, and fate eventually led him to cross paths with Simon.

“Great, a whole tribe of overprotective muscle men,” Simon replied, only partially teasing.

“Hey, my family fits every stereotype for the loud, expressive Italian family pinching cheeks and pushing food on you, except for one,” Vic said with a grin. “We’re not mobbed up. Just about everyone is, was, or wants to be a cop.”

“So I’ll either be very safe, or end up arrested.”

“You like it when I bring my handcuffs out,” Vic said, raising an eyebrow.

“Not at your mom’s house!”

Vic laughed. “My mother is a nurse. Trust me when I say, between raising five boys and a girl and her work at a downtown hospital, she’s seen everything.”

Simon knew he was overthinking the trip, but he couldn’t stop worrying. For the last three years, since he moved to Myrtle Beach, he’d gotten together with Tracey and her girlfriend Shayna for a “Friendsgiving” potluck that included a lot of the store owners on their stretch of Ocean Boulevard. Vic said he’d spent the last few holidays with his police partner, Ross Hamilton, and Ross’s wife and kids. They’d turned down both Ross and Tracey this year, for the pilgrimage north. Every time Simon thought about it, his stomach did flip-flops.

“Hey.” Vic reached across to touch Simon’s hand. “It’ll be okay. I want you to meet them. I’ve never really brought someone home before.”

Simon frowned, confused. “But Nate—”

“They knew Nate because he was a cop, and we were all cops together,” Vic said. “He always had a reason he couldn’t come for dinner or holidays.” He shrugged. “Looking back, that should have been a sign.”

If that was the case, then Simon definitely knew he needed to man up about the whole thing. I own a successful business. I have a Ph.D. I’ve written books, he told himself.

Your business is giving ghost tours and séances because you’re a psychic medium. Your Ph.D. is in folklore, and your books are about ghosts, a nasty little voice countered. They’re going to eat you alive.

Vic stretched his leg out and ran the toe of his shoe up Simon’s calf. “Stop that. I’ve already told them all about you.”

“You have?” Simon nearly choked on his drink of water.

Vic gave him a look. “You thought I was keeping it a secret?” His eyes widened. “You did, didn’t you? Why?”

Simon looked away. “Jacen didn’t tell his parents about us until after we were engaged.”

“Yeah well, your ex was an asshole,” Vic grumbled. “My mom’s known almost since the beginning. She manages to monitor the Myrtle Beach news like a stalker, and she saw something about the Slitter case, so she called me. I was at the hospital, waiting for you to come out of surgery.”

Simon squeezed Vic’s fingers. “Oh, you didn’t mention it.”

Vic looked away. “There were more important things. Like you, taking a bullet.”

Simon and Vic’s first unofficial collaboration on solving a case caught the killer, but Simon ended up shot in the process.

“At least your mother called.” Simon’s relationship with his family was terse, at best.

“Yeah, well. Tracey shut down any suggestions about the hospital calling your next of kin,” Vic replied. He wasn’t looking at Simon, and Simon realized how much the incident still bothered him. “My mom figured out right away that I wasn’t just hanging around the hospital for my job.”

“Sorry I scared you.”

Vic turned back to him, and his gaze had an intensity to it that made Simon shiver. “You have nothing to be sorry for. You were fuckin’ badass.”

Simon’s cheeks colored, but before he could reply, the server brought their pizza. “So tell me about your family,” he said as they served themselves from the big pan, stretching out long, hot tendrils of mozzarella cheese.

Vic took a bite and waited to swallow before he answered. “I told you about mom. Dad’s a police captain now, runs a precinct over by the Strip District.”

Simon raised an eyebrow. “That sounds exciting.”

Vic chuckled. “Not that kind of ‘strip.’ It’s a strip along the river where the boats and trucks bring in the fresh produce, meat, and seafood, and that’s where a bunch of the wholesale grocers and commercial food supply stores are. It’s also open to the public, and it gets busy on weekends, but the real action is in the middle of the night, when the trucks and the boats come in. Maybe we can go down there and walk through a few of the big markets. It’s pretty cool.”

“And the rest?” Simon probed, talking with his mouthful.

“I’m the middle of five brothers, so Michael and Leo are older, Paul and Anthony are younger. All cops or at the Academy. Lisa’s the youngest, and she’s getting a degree in Criminology at Carlow. I won’t make you try to remember all the aunts and uncles, but you’ll be safe if you remember that the aunts are mostly nurses, and the uncles are either cops, FBI, or private security/ex-military.”

“I might swoon from all the testosterone.”

Vic gave him the side eye, and Simon grinned. “Wouldn’t do you any good. No one else is gay.”

“Are they okay with it? You? Us?”

Vic shrugged. “I came out when I was in the Academy. Figured if it was going to be an issue, I’d better know right away. There were some assholes, but the majority didn’t make a big deal out of it. My boss was supportive, and the guys I got assigned with didn’t care.” He grimaced. “Actually, they took the gay thing better than the ghost thing.”

Simon cleared his throat. “Which leads to my next question—”

Vic bumped his knee under the table. “I’ve already told my folks about the shop, and the tours, and that you’re the real deal. Actually, I think my mother wants to see if you can get a message through to my Nonna.”

“I’ll put out the call,” Simon said with a smile, still feeling a little unsure.

Vic seemed to guess his thoughts. “I know I gave you a rough time at the beginning, and you know I’m sorry about that. I believe in you. Captain Hargrove believes, or he wouldn’t have made you an official consultant. Ross believes. I’m not ashamed of your gifts or your shop, and anyone who throws shade can go to hell.”

Simon smiled at Vic, feeling the warmth of Vic’s words in his heart, melting some of his fears away. “I love you,” he whispered.

Vic nodded. “Back atcha.”

Blurb

Lost beneath the ocean, Atlantis has become a myth. When it rises from the deep everything will change for Kyle, Finn and the merpeople.

Jake Seabrook, a human descendant of Medina, the Atlantean Goddess of Love, never asked for magical powers. Unfortunately, not only does he have them, but they are also growing stronger as more of the Atlantean gods wake from their long slumber.

When Jake develops the power to hear the thoughts of anyone thinking about love, lust or sex, it is strange and embarrassing, but also reveals cracks in his relationship with his mermen lovers, Kyle and Finn. If they are going to continue to live as a ménage, they will have to learn to be honest with each other.

With Jake’s powers out of control and their relationship on shaky ground, the last thing any of them need is a crisis in the sunken city.

The Atlantean gods want to regain the powers they lost when the Atlantean people were banished from the city, but the solution will leave the mer who live in the city no choice but to evacuate and search for a new home or risk exposing the existence of the mer to the whole world.

Kyle and Finn return to Atlantis to help with the evacuation and insure the safety of their families, but time is not on their side. When Atlantis rises, the consequences could tear apart their ménage forever.

Excerpt

Kyle’s hand on his thigh took him by surprise. His mermen lovers were very sexual beings, but they tended to avoid public displays of affection, particularly in front of Finn’s parents. Jake stilled as Kyle moved his hand higher on his leg, dangerously close to Jake’s groin.

At his other side, Finn moved his chair closer and leaned on Jake’s shoulder. To the others at the table, it might appear as though Finn were reading the menu. Jake could tell he was doing nothing of the sort. A few more inches and Finn would be crawling onto his lap.

Then, even more disturbing than having his two lovers getting very up close and personal in public, Jake felt a foot rubbing his ankle.

The angle was wrong for it to be either of his lovers, which meant it must be someone else at the table. Directly opposite Jake, Alex smiled at him and winked.

Jake jerked his foot, delivering a sharp kick to Alex’s leg.

“Fuck!” Alex swore and reached under the table to rub his ankle.

“Alex!” Malcolm snapped.

“Jake kicked me,” Alex muttered.

“It was an accident,” Jake replied easily.

Alex glared at him for a moment before his face transformed and he offered the table a bright smile. “I’m sure it must have been. Jake would never want to hurt me, would you, babe?”

Babe? What the hell had gotten into Alex tonight?

Finn growled beside him and shot his brother a venomous look. “Did you call my boyfriend babe?”

“A slip of the tongue,” Alex said.

“Alex, are you drunk?” Summer asked.

“I’ve not touched a drop.” Alex smiled at his new wife.

“Then stop winding up Jake and your brother.”

“What about me?” Kyle asked. “You think it isn’t annoying me when your husband calls my boyfriend babe?”

“Sorry, Kyle,” Summer offered. “You didn’t seem as angry about it as Finn.”

“Well, I am,” Kyle snapped. “Jake’s my boyfriend, too, even if you all seem to forget it half the fucking time.”

No one bothered to scold Kyle about his language.

“Okay, let’s calm down everyone,” Malcolm said. “We’re disturbing the other patrons, so let’s order our food and try to enjoy the evening.”

Jake nodded and searched for the waiter. Tim hovered right behind him, pad and pen in hand.

“What would you like to eat?”

Since Tim seemed to expect it, Jake chose what he wanted first. Finally, everyone had placed their orders and Tim, somewhat reluctantly, went to put them in.

“Would you like anything else, darling?” Finn mumbled under his breath.

Jake wrapped his arm around Finn’s shoulder and gave him a quick hug. “There’s no need for jealousy, so stop worrying.”

Finn kissed him in response and Jake had to restrain himself from deepening the connection. He reminded himself they were in public and not everyone was comfortable with seeing two men kissing each other.

“I guess I’m not going to be getting a kiss while we’re here.”

Jake knew, without looking, that Kyle had not spoken the words he had heard.

“Finn’s the public boyfriend and I’m…the other one, I guess.”

Jake frowned as Kyle’s words sank in. Was that how Kyle saw himself? He thought back on the times he had been out in public with Kyle and Finn and he accepted that Kyle might have a point.

He wasn’t sure how or when it had happened, but somewhere along the way, Finn had become the more traditional boyfriend. When the three of them were out together, Finn’s hand was the one he held as they walked down the street. When he introduced his lovers to someone, he referred to Finn as his boyfriend but occasionally had stumbled a little with what to call Kyle. People simply didn’t expect there to be more than two people in a relationship.

Jake realized he had been so busy trying to reassure Finn that he wanted him and that he wasn’t simply a substitute for Alex, he had been neglecting Kyle.

A haunted house. A portal that lies inside. Four friends must enter both to save their world.

Thirteen year-old Colton has a crush on the new foreign exchange student, Dylan, but soon discovers his new American friend is not your average kid – he’s a werewolf. Their friendship has no time to blossom when Colton and his two close friends accompany Dylan to a haunted house, where they must search inside for a portal that will take them to another world where Dylan’s aunt is captive.

Excerpt

A loud clanging echoed across the yard, and we both cowered behind the stone fence post. Adjacent to the old post, a crumbling stone wall shielded us from anyone standing by the house. When I poked my head around the ledge, nothing but the motionless tall weeds could be seen in the yard and the same gloomy look the house had had before. It was dead quiet. Jade put her hands on my shoulders, her mouth next to my ear. “S-see, I told you. You believe me now? It’s haunted.” I tried to speak, but my mouth was dry. I brought my binoculars up, gripping them hard with both hands. “Probably just varmint inside,” I said.

“Aye. And maybe you and your butterfingers could be captain of the rugby team.”

“Har-har. You think the Kennedy twins really disappeared inside?”

“I told you. I saw them at the house when I was with Erin two nights ago. They said they were going inside.”
“Maybe they’re hanging out at the local pub downtown?”
“Colton, no one has seen those fellas since that night. They went inside and never came out, sure of it.”
I swiveled the binoculars around, peering at the large, arched front doorway, which had a wolf face door knocker. Jade whispered close to my ear, “You see anything?”
“Shhh, I can’t focus with your tongue in my ear.”
“My tongue isn’t in your ear,” Jade said, her voice irritated. After a few seconds, she pushed on my shoulder. “By the way, you find out the new foreign-exchange fella’s story? You didn’t take your eyes off him in class. I missed a lot while I was away.” She giggled. “You fancy him, don’t you?”
I cringed, lowered the binoculars, and spoke in a hushed voice over my shoulder. “Don’t say that out loud.”
“And who’s going to blimey hear us? Just us and the ghouls at 44 Lowre Few Lane.”

Lunchtime came, and I headed to the cafeteria. I scanned the room, searching for Dylan. My heart beat fast. I didn’t see him. Nor did I see anyone I wanted to sit with, or someone, for that matter, who would want me to sit next to them. Ms. Griffin was standing close to several teachers, and I picked up bits and pieces of the gossip. You could count on Ms. Griffin for gathering the latest scandal regarding students, teachers, and anything else, and sometimes she would let things slip to students. Especially if she liked them. She was talking about Brian and the fact that he and his brother had been at that house. I assumed she meant 44 Lower Few Lane. Boys’ laughter reached my ears and I turned. On the far side of the room sat a row of rugby players. My heart plummeted to depths of glumness. Dylan was sitting with them, his back to me. Several of the boys were laughing at whatever story Dylan was telling them. I got my lunch, my head hung down, and I clomped down the hall to go outside. A few boys were forming up teams for rugby and asking for players.A round-faced boy pointed toward me and asked, “What about him?”

I froze in place. A skinny, spindly-legged boy cawed in laughter and slapped the oval-face lad on the back. “Don’t be a muppet. He’s only good at running numbers in his head.”

The two boys faced away from me and continued their search for players.

Always singled out as the smart kid. The brainy one. Tears threatened to sell, but I kept control and headed to my favorite oak tree. I had no chance of winning over Dylan.
