My rating: 5 of 5 stars
As I unfurl from the emotional turmoil swirling inside me I begin to count the many ways this book made me feel:
One: Innocence-the joy and beauty of young friendship and love
Two: Pain – the pure heart wrenching pain of addiction
Three: Fear- the fear of reaching out for help, the fear of helping and the fear of failing
Four: Hope – After a few stumbles, finally finding hope
Five: Love – not only the feeling of love but the power of love- love for another human being and the damn f-ing love of a f-ing drug. It’s all there in this amazing book. Nothing is held back.
This author continues to use her words to take me to places that are incredibly difficult, moving and meaningful but she does it in a way that I know I can do it because she’ll be there to catch me when it’s all over and I’ll be a better person for having gone through it.
