My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Ambiguity, thy name is me. I both liked and, well, not disliked but was frustrated with this story. I liked the characters. D’Angelo was a perfect, standoffish p*&ck until he wasn’t. I liked him. And Angel/Ansell – he was amazing and wonderful from the get-go. The frustrating part was the constant explanations of everything. I read a lot of paranormal, so I know that some explanation is necessary of abilities and history, but the explanations in this one overtook the story itself and that’s what I found frustrating.
Overall, I’d give this 3.5 stars and I’m hoping that most of the explanations are out of the way now so we can get straight to the meat of the story in book 2.
