~Review~ Taunt by Eve Dangerfield

Taunt (End of The World Series #1)Taunt by Eve Dangerfield

To say this is outside of my normal genre of books that I read is, well, an understatement at the very least. But I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review and honestly? I was freaking blown away by how much this intrigued me. Not only did the author make the 4-way relationship work really well and believably between Dani and the three sexy men but the apocalypse storyline was not only exciting and intriguing but it was also smart and scientific. I’m definitely looking forward to more.

Ahhhhh…the satisfaction. Like the best wine as it slides over your tongue and down your throat, or the feeling you get when you place a bite of a decadent piece of chocolate cake in your mouth……multiply that by at least a hundred. That’s how you’ll feel when you read this book. Was it a struggle for Travis and Gary to find their way? Absolutely. But the only things worth having are the thing that are worth fighting for. Simply perfect.

What a breath of fresh air – this story was simply, well, like Cody, just beautiful, and sweet and incredibly touching. I couldn’t help but fall in love with the adorable character almost immediately, just like the wonderful Darwin – and then I couldn’t put this book down because I just had to find out if they made it to love together – because they both so deserved it, that was a feeling that you got as the reader almost from page one and it stays with you until the end. And just like Darwin did for Cody, you’ll want to hang on and not let go – because it’s so very worth it.

What an enjoyable breath of fresh air. These two were sweet and loving and so adorably nerdy that I couldn’t help but fall in love with both of them and hope that they could figure out how to get their happily ever after. And along the way I was treated to two adorably sexy geeks who just melted my heart and who were also hot as heck in the bedroom, wowza. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Highly recommend this one.

~Review~ Atonement by Sloane Kennedy

Atonement (The Protectors, #6)Atonement by Sloane Kennedy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Equal parts heartbreaking and beautiful, sad and joyful, crushing and so filled with love….this book, this story far exceeded my expectations. The author takes a character like Dante, who on the surface appears to be nothing short of a shallow man-whore, and she slowly peels back his layers (with Magnus’s loving help) to reveal not only a beautiful man but someone who blew me away with his strength and his ability to survive. And Magnus, dear, sweet, stoic and patient Magnus was there to not only show Dante how strong he truly is but also that he is strong enough to love and be loved. Beautiful.

Something to Dye For (Curl Up and Dye Mysteries, #2)Something to Dye For by Aimee Nicole Walker

Oh my gosh, yes. More of Gabe and Josh? Yes please, thank you. And this was so much more than just ‘more’ We got Josh coming alive in this book. I can’t say that he shined because Josh always shines but in this book he blinded me with how much he shined. He gave more and more of his heart to his big strong detective and by doing so he himself just became so much more, so alive, so much stronger and it was just incredible to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to the next/final book in the series to see just how much more these two become to each other – I know it will be a bumpy yet beautiful ride, just like this book was – because nothing worth fighting for is ever easy.

Struggle, compassion, patience and love…..thy name is Kellus Hardin. If your heart doesn’t melt, bleed, cry and break for this man then you’re not human. And even strong, stoic Arik stood no chance once he met the man. But only a man like Arik is strong enough to hold something that precious without breaking it and keep him safe within his arms.  What a beautiful gem this was.

I write my reviews the moment I finish a book while I’m still feeling all of the emotions. The emotions I felt from this book? Hell, what DIDN’T I feel? Overwhelmed, sad, horrified, amazed, incredible, strength, resilience, love, acceptance……
I have so much churning inside my head and heart that it’s difficult to decipher what is what.
But I do know one thing…..
This book was absolutely incredible, powerful and moving.

We are all in this together – Reviews matter

With the turmoil recently in the Indie publishing world with the sudden closing of ARE (all romance reads) and a few other smaller eBook houses, it got me thinking.

The authors were obviously the hardest hit, now dealing with lost (or stolen) funds, copyright issues on their own books and who knows what other nightmares they face.

I’m an author too but fortunately for me I didn’t have any of my books listed on ARE.

But I am a reader too, an avid one, and this is where I believe that I, and so many thousands of other readers, can help.

Post those reviews, people.

Yeah, I know it might be a pain, it might take a few minutes out of your day, and yes, you already bought the product so why should you have to do more?

But it helps that author tremendously and….you just might be rewarded for your efforts.

I know I have been.  More times than I can count.

I’ve had authors contact me personally to thank me for my great reviews.

I’ve had authors who have used my words to help promote their book….think about that for a second.  What I spent less than two minutes writing had such an impact on the author that they took my words and posted them all over Facebook to help sell their book.

I even had an author use my words to sell his book and when I thanked him he told me  “when I read it I thought… now that IS the PERFECT blurb!”

Talk about a rush…….and an incredible validation.

But that’s not why I do them, I do them because I know that they matter, and because my authors matter to me.

I have a secret to my reviews.  I never wait to write them.  Because I want that emotion, all of those feelings churning through me the second I finish a book to help guide my words.

Even if I can’t post it to Amazon right away, because that’s more of a pain, I always, always post my review to GoodReads the second I’m done with the book, usually using the App on my phone.  Then I go back when I have time and copy and paste that review to the Amazon site or wherever else they have the book.  But using that App, capturing those feelings, that emotion in my review?

I think it makes all the difference.  Several authors seem to agree.

And for this reader?  It’s worth every second.

And for an author?  It could change their life…..and maybe yours in the process.
